The 2s travelled to Croydon, bouoyed by the fact the only win this season had come against this weekends opponents, a dramatic 4-3 victory a few weeks back. However upon arrival it was apparent we would be facing a much changed opposition from a month ago.

Setting up in an unfamiliar 4-3-3 formation, borough started well using the width on what was a very narrow pitch and nullifying the early danger posed by Whitgifts talented wide men. James made some very good saves and commanded his area well on his official 2s debut, helping to keep the score at 0-0 as we hit the half hour mark. The good early work was soon undone though, when a free kick from the right touchline was blocked by the wall and landed fortuitously on the head of an unmarked man who planted his effort nicely in the bottom corner to put the homeside 1-0 up. This set back didn't deter the 2s who pushed on and played the better stuff as the half drew to a close with Jack pulling the strings in midfield, Sam testing the keepers catching ability with 2 stinging efforts and Pat hitting the bar from 25 yards out.

The half time team talk was one of optimism and borough came out for the second half as they finished the first, pushing Whitgift back and creating the more dangerous chances.

Their left back was talking to me about the post match pizzas so I missed most of the second goal but it was from a corner and there were a couple of red shirts on the floor. Belge did warn us to watch out for "that guy's corners" but we failed to heed the advice. At 2-0 the game was far from over, but it did feel like a long way back and as a couple of half chances came and went, we succumbed to another defeat on the road.

A missed opportunity and a 0-0 game barring the 2 set pieces. Onwards.
